Bucharest Photofest, in partnership with Hungarian Museum of Photography and Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Bucharest, invites you to discover Mirroring Humans - Robert Capa and Hungarian Masters, a collective exhibition.

Special Guest → Péter Baki, curator of the exhibition and director of Hungarian Museum of Photography

About → Few countries have shaped modern photography as profoundly as Hungary. This exhibition brings together the work of five visionaries who changed the visual language of the 20th century: Robert Capa, Brassaï, André Kertész, Martin Munkácsi, and László Moholy-Nagy.

Capa, co-founder of Magnum Photos, redefined war photography with unflinching humanism, capturing the Spanish Civil War, World War II, and Indochina from within the chaos. Brassaï, the “eye of Paris,” revealed the mystery of the city at night, turning its streets and margins into timeless cultural symbols. Kertész invented a lyrical, personal approach to photography, transforming everyday life into poetic narrative. Munkácsi infused photojournalism and fashion with dynamism and movement, inspiring later masters like Henri Cartier-Bresson. And Moholy-Nagy, the Bauhaus visionary, expanded photography’s possibilities through bold experimentation, treating the medium as a laboratory for new ways of seeing.

Together, these Hungarian-born masters forged a photographic consciousness that still defines how we see memory, society, and humanity itself.

● Artists → Robert Capa, Brassaï, André Kertész, Martin Munkácsi, Moholy-Nagy László
